Today I spent some time at Tumaini but came home for lunch and spent the afternoon working on a Philosophy of Discipline. I posted about discipline before at the end of March. Ferdinand, his wife, Happyness and I sat down and talked through the negative behaviors of the children that we wanted to see corrected and then came up with corresponding punishments for the negative behaviors. I had purposed to come up with a philosophy soon after our meeting on discipline but life just got really busy.
So, I started today by looking up and typing out verses from the Bible about children, behavior, and discipline. It was really profitable for me to review the verses and corresponding thoughts that go along with them. Then I searched the internet for examples of other organization's philosophies of discipline. I hope to get a chance in the next day or two to finish putting all of those things together. The plan is to have the philosophy stated on paper and then Ferdinand and I will meet with all of the caregivers on Tuesday, June 2 to cover these changes we are making in discipline.

If interested, you might write Jorge Ramirez and ask if he would send you his lessons on Biblical Child Training (not sure "that" was his title, but you get the idea). He taught these lessons in India two years ago and has a lot of scripture and instruction you might be able to use. If you don't know Jorge, let me know and I'll send you his e-mail address.

When it's complete, would you be able to post it? Would love to see what you've come up with.
